To login to your WordPress website, you will use ‘yourdomain/wp-admin’ – this will bring you to the WordPress login page where you enter your username and password. 


Once you have logged in, you will be taken to the admin desktop area. You will learn all the standard sections such as general settings and managing users.  Depending on the plugins you have installed on your website, there may be a number of additional sections on the desktop such as Backups, SEO, Google Analytics, Customer Chat etc.


There are many WordPress themes available. The theme structure determines the layout and look of a website. Different themes offer different customisations and editing of theme areas such as the header and footer.


WordPress offers two sections namely pages and posts. Pages will be the area where your content is displayed. Posts relate to your blog and will be where your articles or news posts are displayed. Both pages and posts look the same when editing but filter into the website structure in a different manor. 


If your website is already built, then you will have a number of pages within the website content. In training, you will know how to manage those pages, how to edit the content, how to add a page. How to recover a page if you accidently delete it.  You will learn about permalinks, page titles, how to publish a page or save it as a draft, how to set the visibility of a page.

How to manage your media library. How to add an image, a video and a PDF document into your media library. How to add an image or video into your page content.  


You will learn how to manage plugins. How to search for a plugin, how to add a plugin, how to delete any plugin. How to manage plugin updates. 


You will learn how to manage widgets. If your theme is set for sidebars, how to add a widget into a sidebar. If you are running Elementor, you can easily add a widget directly into your page content.

You will learn how to integrate social media plugins. If you are running Elementor, you can easily integrate social media directly into your page content.

As WordPress is an open source CMS, it is constantly being updated with new improvements and features. You will learn how to manage a WordPress upgrade and how to update your installed plugins when an update is available.
